Music

This song was started off as a beat that I made in LA while Butcher Brown was on tour.

Our Air Bnb rental was inside of a high-rise building near Glendale with very tall windows facing a mountainous area that would get lit up with sunlight in the morning once the sun popped over the other buildings. During this time, one of my favorite things to do was to make beats on my SP404 with the volume turned way up so that I could full immerse myself in the sounds.

This was the first beat that came out when I first sat down to do it at this location. Once I got the other pieces together and lined up, I decorated it with a few bars that were more calm so I wouldn't disturb the vibe.

I remember playing a music festival where a woman told me that I give her "Suge Knight vibes". I wasn't offended in the slightest but I pretended like I was in a friendly effort to get her to explain herself. I thought that her assessment was interesting at the time.

Another time when I was driving to Vermont for a solo performance, I thought heavily about that experience and decided to write this song to capture it.

The chords are very drone-like with a strange rhythm that feels like it shouldn't be that way.
The drum groove sets everything into its right place while the lyrics have a dark undertone to them, creating a vibe worthy of being called "Sixes

“Forward EP is really about forward movement toward the goal. During quarantine, I think everything in my view was put into a clearer focus which really allowed me to articulate what I wanted and what I was willing to do for it. I wrote these songs either during this period or a period with a similar sentiment from my past."

“BassTapes is a collection of beats that I started making when my daughter came home from the hospital. I needed to stay much quieter around the house after making DrumTapes so I went for instruments that were in the box as well as live instruments that could recorded directly into the computer. This music is the soundtrack to a generalized night of watching over her while she sleeps.”

“DrumTapes is a set of recordings that I made during the pandemic that use the drum set as the centerpiece for all of the sounds.”
